How Much Leaven Is in Your Lump?

Prophetic Word
"I have called you to influence others with the goodness I have given you. I am willing but you must be ready. How much leaven is in your lump?, asks the Lord."
Teaching
As I think about this word today, of course I'm reminded of the scripture where Jesus said the Kingdom of Heaven is like leaven that a woman mixed into flour until it worked its way through the entire lump of dough.
You know, once leaven is mixed into the dough, it begins to influence the whole lump. There doesn't even have to be a lot of it, and it can still influence the whole. That's how we are supposed to be as believers to other believers and to the world. But we have to think about what is influencing us and how are we influencing others.
For example, have you ever wondered why we don't see more Believers operating in the supernatural? Why aren't we seeing more healings, miracles, signs, and wonders through the Body of Christ?
I've asked the Lord that question many times.
And one thing Scripture makes clear is that faith matters!
Remember when Jesus went to His hometown and didn't do many mighty works there because of their unbelief? And when His disciples couldn't cast a demon out of a young boy, Jesus addressed their lack of faith.
What has influenced us? Is it faith? Is it the Word of God? Or have we allowed fear, doubt, and unbelief to influence the way we think, the way we pray, and even what we believe God can do through us?
You see, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. The more we fill ourselves with His Word, spend time in His presence, and learn to trust Him, the more our faith can grow.
But it's not just about having faith for ourselves. God wants to work through us to touch the lives of others!
And I believe there are several things that can hinder Believers from stepping out and allowing God to use them. Things like fear of failure, complacency, busyness, and even the atmosphere we surround ourselves with.
But today, the Lord is asking us . . .
How much leaven is in your lump?
And more importantly, what kind of leaven is it?
Are you allowing the Word of God to influence your faith, or are you allowing the world and your circumstances to influence what you believe? Don't allow fear and unbelief to determine what God can do through you. Fill yourself with His Word. Spend time in His presence. And when He gives you an opportunity to minister to someone, step out in faith!
Be an influencer for the Kingdom of God. Let your life be filled with faith, and let that faith influence the world around you!
Prayer
Father, thank You for calling us to be an influence for Your Kingdom. Help us recognize anything that is weakening our faith or hindering us from being used by You. Fill our hearts with Your Word, strengthen our confidence in You, and give us the courage to step out when opportunities arise. Let our lives demonstrate Your goodness, Your love, and Your power. May everything we do bring glory to Jesus. Amen!

Going Deeper: 10 Reasons Believers May Not Operate in the Supernatural
If God has called us to influence others with His goodness, we need to examine what might be hindering us from doing so.
Here are ten areas I believe deserve our attention.
1. TEACHING — Lack of Spiritual Equipping
Many Believers haven't been properly taught that God can use them to minister to others. Some believe that healings, miracles, and spiritual gifts are reserved for pastors or specially anointed ministers.
But Ephesians 4:11–12 tells us that ministry leaders are called to equip the saints for the work of ministry!
You don't need a title to make yourself available to God. Learn His Word, understand the gifts of the Spirit, and be willing to serve when opportunities arise.
2. DESIRE AND PASSION — Losing Our Hunger
Where is our hunger for the things of God? Where is our passion to see people healed, delivered, and restored?
Jesus was moved with compassion when He saw people suffering.
We need that same compassion. A desire to see God move shouldn't be about experiencing something spectacular. It should come from genuinely loving people and wanting to see their lives transformed.
Ask God to renew your hunger for His presence and your compassion for people.
3. COMPLACENCY AND CONSUMERISM — Becoming Spectators
I'm concerned that many Christians have developed a consumer mentality.
We attend church, enjoy the worship, listen to the message, and go home. But what are we actually doing with what we've received?
The Church was never intended to be an audience that simply consumes spiritual content.
We're called to be participants, not spectators!
It's time to move beyond church as usual and become actively involved in the work of ministry.
4. PRAYER — Neglecting Our Connection With God
Prayer is essential to our spiritual lives, yet it's often one of the first things we neglect when life gets busy.
Prayer isn't just presenting God with a list of requests. It's communion with Him. It's where we listen, receive direction, and grow in our relationship with Him.
Paul instructed us to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17).
Don't just have a prayer life. Develop a life of prayer!
You may think you're too busy to pray, but you're too busy NOT to pray!
5. FASTING — Neglecting Spiritual Discipline
Fasting helps us set aside distractions and devote focused attention to seeking God.
It's not a way to manipulate God or earn supernatural power. Our authority comes through Jesus Christ.
When accompanied by prayer, fasting can help us cultivate humility, discipline, and greater dependence on the Lord.
Jesus addressed the disciples' lack of faith when they couldn't cast out the demon, and Mark 9:29 emphasizes the importance of prayer in that situation.
Our confidence must be in Christ, not in our spiritual accomplishments.
6. FEAR OF FAILURE — Being Afraid to Step Out
What if you pray for someone and nothing happens?
I've been there!
It's not always comfortable, and it can be discouraging. But we can't allow fear of failure to keep us from ministering to others.
Second Timothy 1:7 reminds us that God hasn't given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.
Our responsibility is to obey God. The results belong to Him.
If you don't see what you expected, don't give up. Keep growing, keep learning, and keep making yourself available.
7. BUSYNESS — Having No Room for Ministry
Our lives can become so filled with responsibilities, entertainment, and activities that we leave little room for the things of God.
We're busy doing everything else, but are we making time to pray, study the Word, serve others, and respond when God leads us?
I'm not suggesting that everyone needs to spend hours at church every day. But we do need to examine our priorities.
Don't become so busy living your life that you neglect what God wants to do through it!
8. A SERVANT'S HEART — Forgetting Who Gets the Glory
Operating in the supernatural isn't about impressing people, building a platform, or receiving recognition.
It's about serving others and glorifying Jesus!
When someone is hurting, our concern should be their need, not whether God will use us to perform an impressive miracle.
Jesus demonstrated humility and compassion throughout His ministry.
The supernatural isn't a stage for our greatness. It's an opportunity to demonstrate His goodness!
Make sure your motivation is love, not recognition.
9. CONSISTENCY — Failing to Remain Steadfast
Faith isn't something we exercise only when everything is going well.
We must remain consistent in prayer, obedience, studying the Word, and trusting God.
James warns us about double-mindedness and instability. We can't continually allow our confidence in God to change with our circumstances.
That doesn't mean we'll never experience questions or moments of weakness. It means we continue trusting Him even when things don't turn out the way we expected.
Don't throw in the towel simply because you haven't seen the results yet!
Remain faithful. Keep your heart yielded to God and stay available for His use.
10. ATMOSPHERE — Allowing the Wrong Influences
And this brings us right back to the leaven!
What kind of atmosphere are you creating around yourself?
What are you listening to? What are you watching? What conversations are you participating in? What voices are influencing your thinking?
Music, entertainment, relationships, and the content we consume can influence our attitudes, expectations, and faith.
We can't completely separate ourselves from the world, but we can be intentional about what we allow into our hearts and minds.
Philippians 4:8 encourages us to focus on things that are true, honorable, pure, lovely, and worthy of praise.
Create an atmosphere that strengthens your faith instead of undermining it!
Fill your heart with the Word. Worship the Lord. Spend time with people who encourage you spiritually.
And remember, you aren't just influenced by your atmosphere. You can influence the atmosphere around you!
The Challenge: Be an Influencer!
So, let me ask you again:
How much leaven is in your lump?
And more importantly, what kind of leaven is it?
We need to examine what we're allowing to influence our faith, our thinking, and our willingness to step out in obedience to God.
Don't allow fear, complacency, or the circumstances around you to determine how available you'll be for His use.
God wants to work through His people, and that includes YOU!
Be inspired to influence your lump with the right things, and allow God full reign in your life to use you as He wishes!
The reward is worth the risk!
